Group decries military invasion of Azagbena

The SING Foundation has condemned the recent invasion of Azagbena Community in Ekeremor Local Council of Bayelsa State by the army.

The non-profit and non-governmental organisation, peopled by rights activists and professionals in diverse field, also alleged that the military officers had no regard for lives and property.

A statement by its Communication Officer, Chika Onyesi, indicated that the invasion was in retaliation of an attack on its officers, which made them raze the remote community.

“As a civil society organisation working in the Niger Delta region, we wish to restate that every Nigerian has an indisputable right to live in peace and security.

“The Federal Government must also immediately begin a process of redressing this inhuman act to assure the community of government’s protection always.

“We condemn the dastardly act by the army while condoling with the people of Bayelsa over the tragedy,” the statement added.
