The conference, themed “Combating Illicit Financial Flows: Strengthening Nigeria’s Domestic Resource Mobilization,” will take place at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, from July 22 to 23. The event will bring together experts from various fields to discuss strategies for tackling IFFs.
Irene Ovonji-Odida, a member of the United Nations High-Level Panel on IFFs, will deliver a keynote address. The Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, will chair the conference. The FIRS Chairman, Dr. Zacch Adedeji, has emphasised the agency’s commitment to combating IFFs through strengthened compliance mechanisms, enhanced transparency, and technology-driven solutions.
The FIRS has established the Proceeds of Crime Management and Illicit Financial Flows Coordinating Directorate (POCM-IFF) to address the menace. The agency is part of an Inter-Agency Committee on Stopping IFFs from Nigeria, comprising various government agencies, to tackle the issue collectively
