FG pledges speedy harmonisation of citizens’ identification data

The Federal Government promised speedy harmonisation of all citizens’ identification data in possession of various ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to birth a single database.

President Muhammadu Buhari had inaugurated the Committee on Citizen Data Management and Harmonisation sometime ago.

The Minister of Interior and chairman of the committee, Rauf Aregbesola, in his inaugural speech at the panel’s meeting yesterday in Abuja, stated that government was committed to the global fight against terrorism and, as such, would leave no stone unturned in ensuring national security and safety of Nigerians and foreigners alike.

“The harmonisation of the database has become imperative because of the present global security challenges and the urgent need for Nigeria to join the international community in the fight against transnational crimes and criminality,” he clarified.
