FG moves to monitor development partners aids for effectiveness

Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Clem Ikanade Agba, has underscored the need for coordination of the activities of development partners in Nigeria, saying: “It will now be compulsory in order to achieve aid effectiveness and efficiency.”

The minister gave the indication yesterday in his welcome remarks at a high-level roundtable discussion on national donor coordination in Abuja.

Agba said donors needed guidance and direction from government to ensure that resources were beneficial to the citizens, stressing the importance of monitoring the performance of all international commitments to avoid duplication of efforts and ensure even distribution of resources across the federation.

Consequently, the minister disclosed that the ministry was finalising the Official Development Assistance (ODA) policy to maximise the benefit of aid and ensure alignment with national priorities.
