By prince Benson Davies
The Maritime Media Editors Forum (MMEF) has officially taken off, marking a significant milestone in the pursuit of excellence in maritime journalism. As a platform for maritime editors, the MMEF aims to promote fairness, accuracy, and professionalism in maritime reporting.
MMEF, a non-profit making organization, is strictly a professional body of journalists that cover not only the maritime industry but also the entire international trade and commerce supply chain with a vision to contribute significantly to its growth and development.
According to a statement signed by the Interim President of the Forum, Prince Adedeinde Adefarakan, on Monday, March 10, 2025, the formation of the professional group followed a series of consultations with relevant stakeholders and in response to recent developments in the maritime industry, especially within the media segment.
“We are committed to adhering strictly to the ethics of media practice while adopting international best practices in all our activities. Furthermore, as a body of professional journalists, we will uphold the tenets of justice, equity, and fairness in all our dealings.
“We use this medium to express our profound appreciation to stakeholders, who have shown their support and encouragements towards the birth of this new baby in the industry.
“We also assure stakeholders of our unwavering commitment towards contributing our quota to the growth and development of the industry, especially at this time when the Federal Government has demonstrated its resolve towards harnessing the vast potentials of the country’s marine and blue economy for the good of the citizens.”
