The number of aspirants eyeing the Bayelsa gubernatorial ticket continues to snowball as a former President of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Edengs Eradiri, joins the race.
Eradiri, who is the state’s Commissioner for Youths, was unveiled when a coalition of youths contributed N21 million to enable him to purchase Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) nomination and expression of interest form.
The youths said they were determined to ensure that Eradiri would contest the primary election and win the party’s ticket ahead of the November polls.
Speaking in Yenagoa, their Spokesman, Johnny Jonathan, said they were disposed to having Eradiri as the next governor of the state, insisting that it was their time for the youths to take over leadership.
Jonathan said the youth groups in Bayelsa were united in ensuring that Eradiri becomes PDP’s governorship candidate, adding that they contributed the money for the ticket to underscore their seriousness.
