European Union gives scholarship to 40 Nigerians

The European Union (EU) Delegation to Nigeria and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has awarded university scholarship to 40 Nigerian students.

This is in furtherance of the ERASMUS+ programme for higher education and it offers opportunities to students, teaching and non-teaching staff to attend or work with European tertiary institutions.

Ambassador of EU Delegation to Nigeria, Ketil Karlsen, disclosed this at the pre-departure orientation for the students in Abuja.

Karlsen said over 1000 students applied for the 2019 scholarship programme, but only 40 of them were selected and will be going to 10 different EU countries for studies.

He added that the EU has supported Nigerian youths who got the scholarship with 6.6 million Euro or N2.6 billion since the inception of the programme in 2014.
