EFCC arraigns three for vote buying in Sokoto

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Sokoto Zonal Office has arraigned Aminu Umar Gagi, Ibrahim Ahmed and Aliyu Suleiman before Justice Isah Muhammad Bargaja of the Sokoto State High Court on three-count charges bordering on conspiracy and bribery.

Trouble started for the trio when the commission received intelligence on February 23, 2019, during the presidential and National Assembly elections that money was being deployed to influence the outcome of voting at Gagi Ward, Nakasarin Magaji area of Sokoto.

Consequently, operatives of the commission mobilised to the polling unit, arrested the defendants alongside N400, 000 cash found on them, which was believed to have been meant for inducing officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other members of the electoral team at the polling station.
