Dr. Hannibal Uwaifo Buries Mother in Grand Style, Reunites WOBA Class of ’83

In a remarkable display of love, respect, and nostalgia, Dr. Hannibal Uwaifo, a renowned legal luminary recently shortlisted for the esteemed rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), bid farewell to his beloved mother, the Late Madam Caroline Oghoereye Uwaifo (nee Mughele), of Benin City, Edo State.
In a grand burial ceremony that brought together friends, family, and classmates from far and wide.
The burial ceremony, which took place on June 12-13, 2025, in Benin City, was a testament to the impact of Madam Uwaifo’s life and legacy on those who knew her. The event commenced with a vigil mass/service of songs at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Benin City, followed by a funeral mass and interment at her residence. A grand funeral reception and social gathering were held at the Stevik Event Centre, attended by numerous members of the Western Boys’ Association (WOBA) Class of 1983 and other well-wishers.
The occasion was a rare opportunity for classmates to reconnect after over 40 years, with notable attendees including Osaro Ogiemudia, Nicholas
Ugiagbe, Roland Okungbowa, Benjamin Ohiwere,
Osagie Igbinobaro,
Asoro Imutinyan,
Hon. E.J. Agbonayinma, our SP then, Emmanuel Obozuwa, Isoken Giwa Desmond, Uwangwe Osaigbovo F., Samuel Oroye (fishers of men), Humphrey Eguakun (84 sect), Dennis Aigbe, Julius Ehiemuan Aranga, Benedict Ehirobo, Kenneth Unuka, Godfrey Airhumwude, Martins Edomwonyi, Ehiremen Ogedegbe, and Ernest Edebiri (82 sect).
Dr. Uwaifo’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who attended and contributed to making the ceremony a memorable one, particularly WOBA class 83. May the soul of the late Madam Caroline Oghoereye Uwaifo rest in peace, and may her legacy continue to inspire generations to come.
