· Uncover baby factory, rescue three women, arrest two suspects
The Delta State Police Command has disclosed that its men and officers arrested no fewer than 10 suspected armed robbers, and cultists and recovered one fabricated AK47 riffle. It also uncovered a baby factory, rescued three women and arrested two suspects in connection with the baby factory.
In a statement made available to the New Experience Newspaper, it revealed that on July 11, 2022, the Area Commander of Asaba received intelligence that some suspected cultists hibernating somewhere in Mile 5, a boundary between Oshimili North and Oshimili South councils were planning to attack innocent citizens in the area.
But the Area Commander alerted the Commissioner of Police (CP), Ari Muhammed Ali, who ordered a massive raid on the area.
Consequently, a combined team comprising the Raiders Squad, operatives of the GRA Division and Area Command, Asaba, led by the Area Crime Officer, SP Kufre Udofia, stormed the hideout and arrested 10 suspects, recovered one fabricated AK47 rifle, charms, fake Vigilante ID card, and AC&DC Black Axe confraternity regalia and has commenced investigation on the matter.
Also, the Command gathered information that there was a baby factory located somewhere in Obodogba Community, Okpanam. Acting on the information on July 10, 2022, at about 07:30hours, operatives of the State Investigation Department (SID) stormed the den in Okpanam Community in Oshimili North Council, rescued three pregnant women and arrested two suspects identified as Promise Ejogu ‘m’ 25 years and 29 years old Aruna Sulieman ‘m’.
It was learnt that Ejogu is a brother of the ring leader of the syndicate, which engages in sexual activities with the women to get them pregnant. They are currently in custody, while efforts are being made to arrest other members of the syndicate.
Also on July 10, 2022, at about 01:30 hours, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ibusa Police Station got information that some members of Black Axe Confraternity, also known as ‘AYES’, were having their initiation ceremony along Zion Road in Ibusa.
The CP directed a joint team of the State Anti-Cult (SACU), Ibusa Division and local vigilantes, who raided their hideouts, arrested 25 male suspects, recovered three Aye confraternity regalia, one military vest, a pair of Aye confraternity stockings, three locally made guns, four live cartridges, a gallon of substances suspected to be liquid hard drugs, four vehicles and four motorcycles.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, DSP Bright Edafe, who made this known at a media briefing on Thursday, July 14, 2022, said the investigation has commenced and that the suspects will be prosecuted in accordance with the laws of the state.
