Defence denies detention of kids as terrorists in North East

The Defence Headquarters has denied the claim by the Human Rights Watch (HRW) that the Nigerian armed forces were arbitrarily detaining children in detention facilities across the North East.

In a statement, yesterday by Acting Director, Defence Information, Colonel Onyema Nwachukwu, stated that the report was not only false but also capable of undermining the restoration of peace in the troubled region.

He stated that it was an “established fact that Boko Haram terrorists indoctrinated women and children who they used as suicide bombers in their theatre of operations.”
