Dantsoho hosts workers’ unions and Pledges improved training to boost revenue and productivity

Nigerian Ports Authority Managing Director Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho recently hosted workers’ unions and pledged improved training to boost revenue and productivity newly appointed Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority NPA, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, has pledged the commitment of the current management under watch towards the training and development of the workforce to boost productivity and revenue generation.

Dr. Dantsoho gave this assurance when he played host to the leaderships of the two industry major unions, the Senior Staff Association of Government Owned Companies (SSASCGOC) and the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, MWUN, led by the President General of MWUN, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju.

He expressed his appreciation for the visit and emphasized the need to reposition the NPA to perform its role in trade efficient facilitation, saying, “With the right communication and dialogue, we will get there soon.”

The MD assured them of his determination to further strengthen the organisational culture of the NPA for the good of all. He, however, called for continued collaboration and harmony from the two house unions.

Speaking at the occasion, the President General of MWUN, Comrade Adeyanju, congratulated Dr. Dantsoho on his appointment while calling on the MD to look into the issues of staff welfare and remuneration.

The MWUN president general and deputy national president of the Nigeria Labor Congress expressed confidence in the abilities of Dr. Dantsoho to bring about the desired improvements not only in the Authority but also in the maritime sector as a whole.

President of the SSASCGOC, Comrade Akinola Bodunde, while congratulating the MD on his appointment, pledged the support of the unions to the current management to achieve the growth and improved welfare of the workforce.

President of the MWUN, NPA Branch, Comrade Ifeanyi Mazeli, who also spoke during the visit, expressed the unions’ commitment towards promoting dialogue and enhancing growth in Nigeria’s shipping sector.

In attendance at the meeting were Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Mrs. Vivian Richard-Edet, Executive Director Marine and Operations, Engr. Olalekan Badmus, and other top management officials of the Authority.”
