The seizures were made on August 7 and 9, 2025, during coordinated enforcement operations. On August 7, a patrol team intercepted a Nissan Almera vehicle suspected of conveying prohibited items via the Ilara bush paths near the Ogun border. The occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled into the bush, leaving behind the seized items, which included²:
Firearms: 14 JOJEF Magnum semi-automatic firearms (Italian-made) and 1 Mossberg pump-action shotgun (US-made)
Ammunition: 4,841 rounds of live ammunition
Drones: 2 industrial drones without proper documentation
