The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have made a significant seizure of 1,187kg of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, at the Apapa Port. The illicit drug was concealed in 55 bags hidden inside a 1x20ft container with two vehicles. The container, with the number FCIU 6369526, was laden with the vehicles and the cannabis was carefully packed in 2,374 packages, each weighing 500 grams.
The seizure was made possible through a joint operation between the two agencies, following credible intelligence provided by the NDLEA. The Customs Area Controller, Apapa Port Command, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, commended the robust synergy between the NCS and NDLEA, reiterating the service’s zero-tolerance policy for smuggling.
Oshoba warned that any trader or agent who dares to smuggle goods will face the full wrath of the law, emphasizing that the NCS is focused on collecting maximum revenue for the government while ensuring national security and economic integrity. He also commended the officers involved in the operation for their diligence and commitment to duty.
The agencies are currently conducting investigations to bring the perpetrators to book. This seizure is a significant blow to smugglers and a testament to the effectiveness of the partnership between the NCS and NDLEA. The public is assured that the agencies will continue to work together to stem the tide of smuggling and protect the nation’s borders.
The seizure of the Canadian Loud is a major achievement for the NCS and NDLEA, and it demonstrates their commitment to enforcing the law and protecting the public. The agencies’ efforts to combat smuggling and drug trafficking are ongoing, and they will continue to work together to ensure that those who engage in these activities are brought to justice.
