SIFAX Group, a leading indigenous conglomerate in Nigeria, has demonstrated its commitment to promoting and preserving the country’s rich cultural heritage by sponsoring the 2025 Ojude Oba Festival. The festival, an annual celebration held in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, is a significant cultural event that showcases the traditions and customs of the Ijebu people. With this sponsorship, SIFAX Group continues to show its support for initiatives that promote Nigerian culture and values.

The annual festival, which takes place a few days after the Eid al-Kabir (Ileya) celebration, is one of Nigeria’s most prominent cultural tourism events. It draws thousands of Ijebu sons and daughters from across the globe, as well as tourists and dignitaries eager to witness the colourful display of culture, fashion, and tradition.
This age-long cultural heritage of the Ijebu has been in existence for about two centuries.

Speaking at the festival’s press conference help at Ijebu-Ode, Akande Olumuyiwa, Group Head, Corporate Communications, SIFAX Group, said the company’s sponsorship is part of its commitment to promoting indigenous culture and recognizing the festival’s vast tourism and economic potential.

“SIFAX Group is proud to identify with this year’s Ojude Oba Festival through our sponsorship. This iconic event has put the country on the global tourism map, attracting tourists from around the world.
The Ojude Oba Festival unites communities, boosts local economies, and projects Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage to the world. Supporting this iconic celebration aligns with our values of inclusiveness, cultural pride, and national development,” he said.

Held in honour of the Awujale of Ijebuland, the festival features a royal homage ceremony, equestrian displays, traditional music, and fashion parades by age-grade groups (regberegbe). Beyond the pomp and pageantry, it has evolved into a major cultural event that promotes tourism and fosters community development.

With an annual attendance of over 250,000 people, the Ojude Oba Festival continues to play a vital role in preserving Yoruba cultural values while creating economic opportunities for artisans, local businesses, and service providers.

By supporting the Ojude Oba Festival, SIFAX Group further solidifies its position as a leader in corporate social responsibility, promoting cultural heritage and community development in Nigeria.
