The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has inaugurated its special squad, christened “Agro Rangers Squad” to contain the rising clashes between farmers and herders in Enugu.
The corps state commandant, Everestus Obiyo, said the team was part of the response to bring under control the unfortunate killings and wanton destruction of lives and property in the country.
He said the officers had also been trained to checkmate the activities and excesses of the parties to ensure peaceful co-existence for rapid growth and development.
In the same vein, the corps has deployed 300 rangers to check the menace in Taraba.
The state commandant, Aliyu Manias, during their inauguration in Jalingo, said 5000 officers had been mobilised nationwide.
