Buhari tasks INEC on best electoral process

President Muhammadu Buhari has charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a free, fair and credible electoral process in the country.

He stressed that he was determined to bequeath Nigeria a system that meets global best practices as far as the nation’s electoral process was concerned.

The President spoke during a meeting with Chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, top officials of the electoral body and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu at the State House, Abuja.

INEC has a minimum of 28 rerun and by-elections in January alone and President Buhari told the commission to ensure that contestants play the game by the rules and without fear or favour.
