Buhari, APC worsening poverty of Nigerians, say PNP, Timi Frank

National Chairman of the People Nigeria Party (PNP) and Presidential Candidate in the last election, Professor Peter Nwangwu has said that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration has offered nothing but induced poverty and deprivation among Nigerians in the last four years.

In a statement issued yesterday, he said the current poverty status has reduced Nigeria to the world’s poverty capital.

Insisting that the high level of poverty was responsible for voting in error, he said most Nigerians, especially at the grassroots level were misguided and thereby sold their votes for N500 during the 2019 polls.

Also, former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has declared that President Buhari and APC-led government are worsening the poverty level of Nigerians.

Frank, who was reacting to a report by The Economist Magazine that “Nigerians have become the poorest citizens of a country in the world under President Buhari’s first term in office, said the gradual extermination of Nigerians through poverty was a fact that the present government has refused to acknowledge.

“The reality on our streets speaks to that of a failed country. But the agony and irony of the situation is that Buhari and his boot lickers continue to deny the reality, which their actions and inactions have foisted on the people.

“President Buhari has failed to recognise that democracy is not a military government. He has failed to realise that one cannot run a multi-ethnic and pluralistic society on the principle of command and control, which has been his hallmark as an unreformed and unrefined general in a democratic dispensation,” he stated.

“And except we speak up, we may all likewise perish. God forbid! I believe that there remains enough good and patriotic men in Nigeria to confront this evil regime and stop the country from sliding irretrievably,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Vicar of All Saints Anglican Church, Episcopal House, Wuse, Abuja, Venerable Earnest Onuoha, has urged the President to be democratic, fair and just in assembling members of his new cabinet without favouring a particular tribe or religion.

Speaking at a church service yesterday, Onuoha urged President Buhari to select credible men and women not minding their political affiliations and ensure that round pegs are put in round holes for the good of the entire country.

“We are in another era, righteousness exalts a nation but sin will bring it down. Mr. President should be liberal and rule with the fear of God, he has to be firm, open-minded and look at the whole country as a father,” he added.
