The Ajoke Ayisat Afolabi Foundation (AAAF), the philanthropic arm of SIFAX Group, has launched a free health insurance scheme for 60 residents of ten rural communities in Ijebu, Ogun State. The initiative, which was done in partnership with Ogun North East Local Government, aims to improve access to quality healthcare for the elderly and vulnerable.

The beneficiaries were drawn from Isade, Ajowa, Idomila, Iken, Igbogila, Rasonwa, Ilefon, Ileshe, Sanyindo, and Idomowo villages. The scheme is expected to significantly reduce out-of-pocket healthcare expenses for beneficiaries and improve the utilization of healthcare facilities within the communities.

According to Mrs. Foluke Ademokun, Executive Coordinator of the Foundation, the initiative was born out of a need to address the challenges faced by rural communities in accessing healthcare services. She explained that Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, Chairman of SIFAX Group and AAAF, observed that a health facility previously donated to the adjoining Ijebu communities in Isade was being underutilized because many residents could not afford medical bills.

The Foundation’s partnership with the Ogun State Health Insurance Agency (OGSHIA) will enable beneficiaries to access healthcare services without financial burden. The Chairman of Ogun North East Local Government, Hon. Foluso Badejo, expressed deep appreciation for Dr. Afolabi’s continued support for the local government area, highlighting his contributions across the region, including the donation of markets, schools, football fields, ICT centers, and medical facilities.

The village head of Isade, Chief M S Odunuga, commended Dr. Afolabi for his consistent commitment to the well-being of the communities, describing the health insurance scheme as timely and impactful. Further phases of the initiative are being considered.
