Bayelsa pledges more investment in technical education

Bayelsa State Government has promised to invest more in technical and information and communications technology (ICT) education to train students in skills before their graduation to curb unemployment.

Speaking during a youth summit themed ‘Transforming Education’, the Commissioner for Youth Development, Udengs Eradiri, said with investment in technical education, young people would be engaged after graduation than wait for government jobs.

Eradiri, the immediate past president of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), said the state was meeting with multi-nationals and other key stakeholders for youth development in Bayelsa, through provision of quality education.

He said, “We are talking about the need to change the educational curricula in this part of the world to meet the challenges of today.”
