Audu, Aganaba want direct primary in Kogi, Bayelsa election

Governorship aspirants in Kogi and Bayelsa states under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mohammed Abubakar Audu and Preye Aganaba have asked the party to adopt direct primary to select candidates in the November 16 polls.

The duo spoke separately to reporters after submitting their expression of interest and nomination forms at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

They argued that direct primary mode would produce credible candidates that would enable the party to win the election in both states.

While Audu accused Governor Yahaya Bello of plotting to intimidate and harass his opponents to manipulate the outcome of the primaries in his favour, Aganaba argued that in respect of the principle of power rotation in the state, it was Bayelsa Central’s turn to produce the next governor of the state.
