Army cautions criminals against perpetrating violence in Plateau

Commander, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), Major-General Augustine Agundu, has warned ‘fifth columnists’ and ‘conflict merchants’ who have benefited from crises in Plateau State to desist from their activities or they would be arrested and prosecuted.

Besides, Agundu also warned that any individual who attempts to thwart the efforts of the special task force to rid the society of hoodlums and cultists will suffer the same fate as a criminal.

He stated this yesterday while parading 23 suspects arrested for various criminal offences at the OPSH headquarters in Jos.

He also some landlords and hoteliers whose premises have been harbouring criminals to desists from doing so, adding that the consequences of their actions or inactions would be given.

Agundu added that the onus also remains with parents and guardians to educate their children and wards to live responsible lives that would guarantee a productive future, lamenting, however, that unfortunately, some parents have abdicated their family obligations.

“Today, these uncultured youths indulge in despicable vices of unimaginable proportions. The operation would continue to be professional in the discharge of its duties as the criminals being paraded would be handed over to the law enforcement agencies for prosecution,” he said.
