AIG Ronke Nurat Leads Maritime Police Sensitization Drive

The Maritime Police Command, led by AIG Okunade Ronke Nurat, fsi,mspsp, on Wednesday ,1st April,2026, conducted a public sensitization exercise at the NIWA Jetty, CMS, Lagos, as part of the 2026 National Police Day celebrations. The event, held in collaboration with the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), aimed to educate boat operators and waterway users on best practices, regulatory compliance, and the importance of maintaining a good relationship with the police.
The sensitization exercise emphasized collective responsibility in ensuring safety on inland waterways, highlighting the need for cooperation between law enforcement and waterway users to prevent accidents and criminal activities. AIG Nurat and NIWA officials engaged with boat operators, discussing issues such as adherence to safety protocols, registration requirements, and the consequences of non-compliance.
The initiative is part of the Maritime Police Command’s efforts to promote maritime safety and security in Lagos and beyond. By engaging with waterway users, the police aim to reduce risks, prevent crimes, and foster a safer environment for passengers and operators.
