Deposed Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo State has formally filed an application at the Supreme Court seeking a singular relief to reinstate him as governor.
Briefing journalists in Abuja, former Commissioner of Justice in Ihedioha’s administration, Ndukwe Nnawuchi (SAN), said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Ihedioha had reviewed the judgement of the apex court delivered on January 14, 2020 and decided to approach the Supreme Court to review its judgement.
“The PDP and Ihedioha (has) filed an application at the Supreme Court to set aside its earlier judgement in favour of Ihedioha,” said Ndukwe.
He said the details of the argument had been canvassed in the application and that the apex court was expected to deliver its judgement one way or another.
Former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Kanu Agabi (SAN) is leading a team of 30 lawyers to stream their argument in favour of Ihedioha.
The team is also filing an affidavit of urgency to facilitate a speedy hearing of the application.
Ndukwe, however, disclosed that Ihedioha and the PDP would accept the verdict of the apex court after hearing the application.
In another development, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo has replied the PDP over accusation by the latter of razing the Orlu office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
PDP publicity secretary in the state, Danian Opara, had on Tuesday accused the APC of setting the electoral umpire’s office on fire.
But in countering the allegation, Imo APC chapter publicity secretary, Chief Enyinnaya Onuegbu, said: “Suddenly PDP Imo State is a vuvuzela alarmist. The allegation by the crying PDP over the reported fire incident at INEC office in Orlu is wholly the noise of a vuvuzela horn in a football arena, full of sound and fury but signifying nothing, especially as a winner has emerged at full time.
“It is rather PDP that is grieving and looking for ‘a sharing of the baby by King Solomon’ that is suspect in the arson.”
