Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, Chairman of SIFAX Group, has congratulated Alhaji Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), on his birthday. Afolabi praised Adeniyi’s exceptional leadership, professionalism, and impactful reforms, which have strengthened Nigeria’s economic growth, trade facilitation, and global commerce profile. Adeniyi’s tenure has brought renewed professionalism, efficiency, and credibility to the NCS, with significant reforms driving revenue growth, improved trade facilitation, enhanced border security, and accelerated digital transformation.

Afolabi commended Adeniyi’s strategic foresight, institutional discipline, and commitment to national service, noting that these achievements have positively impacted the ease of doing business for stakeholders across various sectors. – Revenue Growth: The NCS exceeded its revenue target in 2024, collecting N5.79 trillion into the Federation Account as at November 2024.
– Digital Transformation: Adeniyi has driven the digitalization and automation of customs operations, enhancing efficiency and transparency.
– Border Security: The NCS has enhanced border security, intercepting arms, ammunition, and illicit drugs.
– International Recognition: Adeniyi was elected Chairman of the World Customs Organization (WCO) in June 2025, and received the “Public Service Person of the Year 2024” award.
