ABU has migrated to postgraduate varsity, says VC Ibrahim Garba

Vice Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, Professor Ibrahim Garba, has said that the university has migrated to a postgraduate institution for training of academic manpower for universities in the North.

Highlighting the status of ABU on its admission policy, he said the university is currently de-emphasising high rate of admission for undergraduate students, as it migrates to a postgraduate institution.

He explained that the university, which was established in 1962, had migrated in its admission policy of student intakes yearly.

Speaking in an interview, he stated, “ABU admits 40 per cent undergraduates and 60 per cent postgraduate students population.

“We have now migrated from undergraduate institution to postgraduate university where we will now concentrate on training of the manpower needs of the increasing number of universities in Northern Nigeria.”
