SIFAX sponsors free medical outreach in Ibadan, treats 250 persons

No fewer than 205 persons benefitted from dental and medical care at the annual Taiwo Afolabi Free Rural Dental Outreach at the popular Molete market in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The free medical care, which targeted mainly traders at the market and rural communities in Oyo State, was organised by the University of Ibadan Association of Dental Students.
The beneficiaries enjoyed body mass index (BMI) measurement, blood pressure test, random blood glucose measurement, blood pressure measurement, dental clerking, examination and referrals, extractions, scaling and polishing, among other services.

There was also a health talk on the imperative of maintaining good oral health.
The association deployed doctors, medical and dental students from the University College Hospital, Ibadan.

Head, Corporate Communications, SIFAX Group, Olumuyiwa Akande, who represented the company at the event, said the sponsorship of the medical outreach was part of its sustainability initiatives designed to assist and support indigent Nigerians.

He said that it was also in line with the company’s belief that a healthy nation translates to a productive nation.

Speaking at the event, the President, of the University of Ibadan Dental Students Association, Olalekan Efunkunle, said the aim of the outreach was to create oral health awareness and promotion of good oral health hygiene in society.

Olakekan noted that SIFAX Group’s support for the outreach in the last five years has helped to not only reach out to several rural persons but also equipped the students with adequate field knowledge needed to excel in dentistry.

He charged other corporate organisations to emulate SIFAX Group by partnering with the student body in taking the health mission to other rural areas of the state.
