Tin Can Port Customs goes tough on importers over offensive goods By Frank Odinukaeze

Following the discovery by Customs operatives at Five Star Logistics Terminal of a pistol and its magazine carefully hidden in a Toyota Camry, at the exit point while on routine examination on the 28th of August 202, the Tin Can customs Command has warned importers and agents over the consequence of such importation.

The Nigeria Customs Service, TinCan Island Command has disclosed that its operatives at the five-star logistics terminal had stumbled on a pistol with its magazine inside a Toyota Camry car at the exit point while on routine examination on the 28th day of August 2021.

In statement realised by the PR unit of the Tin Can. Island Command, said “in line with our standard operating procedure (SOP) the DSS, police and other security agencies were invited to the scene.

Thereafter the exhibit was taken to the customs Enforcement unit for safe custody pending a formal report to customs headquarters on Monday for further directives.” The statement further says the “Command is using this opportunity to once again warn importers and or their agents to desist from getting involved with such offensive imports particularly items like this on the list of absolute prohibition in view of the dire consequence.”

In a Swift response, the customs area controller, Compt Musa Abdullahi has ordered an immediate investigation into the incident with the view to unravel those behind the importation and ensure blockage of their supply chain.
