NIS commissions tech building, promotes officers

Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammad Babandede has commissioned an approved Paint Colour for the Technology Building in a ceremony at its headquarters.

He accompanied by the Management team and Building Engineers from Julius Berger the contractors handling the Technology Building at the NIS Headquarters.

Babandede also commissioned a new borehole at the Commercial Area reserved for businesses at the service headquarters.

He appreciated its team of Building Engineers for a good supervision and adherence to standard that fitted into the working pattern of Julius Berger Plc known for standard in the construction industry.

A statement issued the Public Relations Officer, James Sunday emphasizing on good finishing and use of best materials that befits a world-class structure the Technology Building, which he fondly referred to as the “Immigration Moon” that will attract visitors and tourists when completed.

Also, the NIS has promoted no fewer than 3, 548 junior officers, Confirming the development in a statement on Sunday, said Babandede directed the official release of the promotions.

The junior staff promoted comprised the rank Immigration Assistants (I. A3) up to Inspector of Immigration (I. I) and conversion from Chief Immigration Assistants (C. I. A) to Inspectors (I. I).

The breakdown is as follows: I. A3-I. A2 (762), I.A2-I.A1 (184), I.A1-SIA (1097), SIA-CIA (928), AII-II (577), Conversion from CIA – II (118) totaling 3,548 officers.

The affected officers were advised to check with their respective Human Resource Management offices in their commands for the approved list.

Babandede congratulated the personnel for their successful performance, hard work, discipline and loyalty being the bedrock for the promotion to their new ranks.

In a related development the NIS Kwara State Command received an operational boost in its border patrol activities as Forward Operating Bases  (FOB) was commissioned by the CGI at Okuta, Kwara State, bringing to 13 the NIS FOB around the country.

During the event the CGI represented by the Acting Zonal Coordinator Zone D and Comptroller Kwara State Command Mrs. Edith Onyemenam, enjoined the operatives to step up their operations to reduce influx of irregular migration into the country through Kwara State.

He implored them to also justify the Federal Government support to the NIS through the purchase of operational vehicles, equipment and other e-Border technology solutions approved for the service.
