Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammad Babandede, has advised officers of the agency to focus on national development, while in service.
In a statement issued in Abuja and made available to newsmen, Public Relations Officer of the NIS, James Sunday, a Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (DCI) said Babandede gave the charge in Abuja at the valedictory session for retiring Deputy Comptroller General (DCG) Nurudeen Graham and Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) Tamprika Virginia Oyedeji.
While commending the DCGs and the ACGs in charge of directorates in the agency, he noted that they have all worked hard under his leadership to develop the NIS and admonished NIS personnel to work together as a team by being focused, committed, selfless and sincere colleagues.
Babandede charged the senior officers to be more committed to national causes and shun mundane matters that could stand as a clog in the wheel of progress.
He expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing him the 16th Comptroller General of the NIS, which he said, gave him the platform to achieve laudable feats and successes through the officers and men of the NIS.
“To whom much is given, from him much is expected to make the nation safe and most preferred destination for businesses and investments and also the rallying point for all services the NIS offer to members of the public,” Babandede stressed.
