Renewed cult violence claims two lives in Edo State

Despite Edo State government’s partial lockdown due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), renewed cult violence has claimed two lives in Egor Council of the state.
The killings occurred late Monday night in two separate locations along Benin Technical College (BTC) Road and Universal junction along Medical Stores road in Benin City, the state capital.
One of the victims, an auto mechanic identified simply as Odion, was said to have been shot dead at his workshop BTC road, while the identity of the other killed at Universal junction, some distance away from the mechanic workshop, could not be ascertained.
It was gathered that the assailants stormed the workshop in a red Toyota Camry car, shot their victims and zoomed off immediately.
The remains of the auto mechanic was reportedly deposited at an undisclosed morgue by the Okhoro Police Division.
When contacted on telephone over the killings, the Commissioner of Police, Lawal Jimeta, said he was yet to be briefed till the time of filing this report.
He, however, explained that the anti-cultism unit of the police command had arrested some suspects, adding that investigation was ongoing.
