Kebbi Sector of FRSC urges drivers to maintain social distancing directive

Sector Commander, Kebbi sector of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Commander Ebenezer Abayomi Asaniyan, has directed drivers to abide by social distancing.

He disclosed this in a statement issued by the command’s Public Education Officer, Uko Okore Uko, adding that this was to ensure that the health of commuters was safeguarded if anyone was infected in such vehicles.

He, therefore, empowered all unit commands and outposts under his jurisdiction to ensure that all overloaded vehicles were impounded.

“In situations where the driver evades arrest by not stopping for the patrol team, a flying ticket will be issued to the erring driver and the command will trace and arrest and prosecute the offender,” he said.

We will do all we could within our purview to support the efforts of the Federal Government to curtail the spread of Coronavirus” he added.

The Sector Public Education Officer Superintendent Route Commander, Uko O. Uko, said the directive took immediate effect as, “We cannot afford to have the deadly disease in our state.”

He charged transport unions, organised labour and well-meaning people of Kebbi State to practice social distancing when travelling for the good of all.
