African Union opposes test-run of vaccine on Africans

The Africa Union Economic, Social and Cultural Council (AU-ECOSOCC) has condemned the statement credited to French scientists that the COVID-19 vaccine should be test-run on Africans.

It warned against remarks that could cause more harm to Africans during this trying period.

In a statement in Abuja, the Nigeria Representative, Oba Olasunkanmi John, said the council commiserates with European countries and others that had been seriously affected by the virus.

He added that most recent survey shows that 65,605 people have died globally, with the United States recording 8,454; China 3,329; France 7,560; Spain 12,418 and Italy 15,362 compared to the 280 deaths in the entire African continent.
