Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, where he sought Federal Government’s partnership towards ensuring adequate security in the state.
Diri, who initially declined to speak to newsmen after the visit he described as “private,” said he was in Aso Rock to extend the state’s hand of fellowship with the Federal Government, given its critical place in the polity.
“Since I resumed as Governor of Bayelsa State, precisely on February 14, 2020, I have not come to see the President. Today I just did that to come and see the father of our country and to work with the Federal Government in ensuring peace, stability and overall development of my state.
“The President received me as one of his sons, as a state governor and the reception was very warm. He said he was happy that I came and with the way, I have started.
He pointed out that he has read about all the statements I have made and my security plans for Bayelsa. He promised that as one of his sons and a state like Bayelsa that is critical to the security and peace of the Niger Delta, he was prepared to work with me,” he stated.
