Kebbi NYSC engages NCDC, ministry for protection of corps members

Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kebbi State, Alhaji Mustapha Mohammed has said the scheme has been in constant touch with the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) and Federal Ministry of Health to protect corps members against coronavirus.

He stated this at the Dakingari Orientation camp, adding that all the consultant managing camp clinics nationwide have been directed to sensitise corps members against the virus.

“We will commence our sensitisation this week because it became necessary to protect our corps members from any disease. We have made adequate arrangements to protect the 1,563 2020 Batch ‘A’ Stream One corps members so far registered in the state,” he said.

He then commended the state government for the renovation of the camp, assuring of their commitment towards deploying the corps members to necessary areas to serve in the state.

Mohammed, who also appealed to Governor Atiku Bagudu to support the NYSC with operational vehicles and the completion of male hostel, which he said were the only request worrying the management of the scheme.

Responding, Bagudu, who was represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Gidado Aliyu Kaliel, said the NYSC has remained a beacon of hope for the nation’s development, adding that it has provided graduates, who prior to the inception of the scheme, were strangers to the diverse cultures and traditions of other part of the nation with a better understanding of the country.

“The programme, put together to prepare and equip corps members morally and physically on the challenges of service to the nation building, has done a good and commendable job over the years,” he added.
