Igbinedioan tasks medical practitioners on standards, excellence

A former Governor of Edo state, Lucky Igbinedion, has stressed the need for medical practitioners in the country to improve on patient care, research and teaching to attain national and global standards.

Igbinedion spoke at the inauguration of Abiodun Olatunbosun Ilesanmi, a professor in the Obstetrics & Gynecology Department of University College Hospital (UCH) as Chairman, Igbinedion University Teaching Hospital (IUTH) Management Board.

Members of the board are, Vice Chancellor of University of Medical Sciences, Ondo State, Professor Friday Okonofua and Vice Chancellor, Igbinedion University Okada (IUO), Professor Lawrence Ezemonye.

Igbinedion, who is Deputy Chancellor of IUO, tasked the reconstituted Management Board to scale up existing standards of excellence in patient care, research and teaching for which the institution is known.

He charged the board to strengthen and enhance the health sector for the greater good of humanity, particularly on quality training and medical services.

Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council, IUO, Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah, stressed the need for government at all levels to extend a hand of fellowship to private educational and healthcare delivery institutions in the country, noting that such synergy could only engender a win-win outcome for all stakeholders.
