FCTA begins payment of new minimum wage, clears N4b arrears

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has disclosed that it has commenced payment of the N30,000 new national minimum wage to civil servants of the FCT.

Director, FCT Treasury Department, Ismaila Ishiaku, made this known at a media briefing in Abuja, saying it also cleared a backlog of arrears amounting to N4b from April 2019.

He said the payment followed the agreement reached between labour and the FCT administration, adding that the move was to enable workers start the year on a financially stable note.

Ishiaku, therefore, urged the workers to re-double their efforts in the discharge of their duties, assuring them of the ministers’ commitment to timely payment of their salaries and other welfare packages due to them.
