Bichi and Rano emirates in Kano State has raised fresh application challenging the interlocutory injunction filed by Kano Concerned Elders against the new emirate council laws.
In their separate applications before Kano Chief Judge, Justice Nura Sagir, the communities sought an injunction to join the suit against the originating injunction already set for hearing before the court.
Bichi and Rano are parts of four new emirate councils enacted by Kano House of Assembly and signed into law by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
The former presidential candidate of the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC), Bashir Tofa, and 20 other prominent citizens of Kano are in court challenging Ganduje and seeking an interlocutory injunction against the new laws.
