The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Akwa Ibom State chapter, has expressed disappointment over a statement credited to its Publicity Secretary, Reverend Aniebet Emmanuel that the council has a pending case of alleged financial misappropriation.
It, therefore, cautioned its members against issuing unofficial statements on the affairs of the organisation.
This was contained in a statement issued by deputy state Chairman, Secretary, Financial Secretary, Legal Adviser, Treasurer and Assistant Secretary, Fredrick Ekaeba, Calistus Andem, Blessing Umo, Mfon Peters, Reverend Aniekan Obot and Juliet Ben respectively and made available to journalists in Uyo yesterday.
“Our attention has been drawn to the recent publication from the office of the Publicity Secretary of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) Akwa Ibom state chapter where he purported that ‘IPAC is not an Akwa Ibom State government organisation, but belongs to the Federal Government.
“The story further suggests that there is a pending case of financial misappropriation in the state wing of IPAC. We wish to state that we are taken aback at a statement credited to Emmanuel.
“And IPAC elected Executive members hereby dissociate themselves from the said publication. We further state that there is no case of financial misappropriation known to us,” the statement reads.
The executive members, therefore, urged members of the public to disregard the publication as IPAC would always support good governance in line with its code of conduct Laws as amended 2019.
They said Emmanuel did not make the statement on official capacity and so does not represent or have the consent or authority of other elected members mentioned in the statement to issue such statement on behalf of the organisation.
“We hereby warn him and other officers involved in the publication to henceforth desist from such within the 38 days to the expiration of the current tenure of IPAC without due process and consent of the executive or two-thirds simple majority, as stipulated in IPAC’s Code of Conduct 2019,” the statement added.
