Minister of State for Environment, Sharon Ikeazor has cautioned pensioners against patronising those she referred to as fake agents during their pensions verification, saying most of them fall into the hands of fraudsters when they want to perfect their documents.
Ikeazor gave the admonition in Awka, Anambra State, while addressing retirees at the commissioning of the Pensions Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) secretariat in the state.
She explained that the idea of a state liaison office is to bring ‘our world class pension services’ to the doorsteps of our pensioners and to discourage or stop our senior citizens from traveling long distances to get their complaints or other issues resolved through third parties in the state.
Ikeazor, who was the immediate past Executive Secretary of PTAD cautioned the pensioners against dealing with unauthorised persons in the name of facilitating the resolution of their complaint and payment of their entitlement, warning that they stand the risk of falling prey to scammers and fraudsters if they do so.
