House of Reps ex-appropriation panel chair Jibrin fears losing seat

A former chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has raised the fear of losing his seat.

The member representing Kiru/Bebeji constituency of the state in the lower legislative chamber made his apprehension known after the National Assembly election petition tribunal sitting in Kano reserved judgment on the complaint filed by the PDP standard-bearer, Ali Detti Yako.

Yako is challenging the electoral umpire’s announcement of Jibrin as winner of the polls.

Moreover, Jibrin is facing a political tribulation from his constituency following his stiff opposition to Governor Ganduje’s choice of Alhassan Ado Doguwa as House Leader.

Making the shocking revelation on his twitter handle @AbdulAbmJ, he submitted:  “Very soon I may be in the labour market. I will be a free agent.  My CV is ready. Any offer?”

Jibrin, who championed the campaign team that produced Femi Gbajabiamila as speaker, made the reservations on the Lagos lawmaker’s twitter comment on the recent appointment of committee chairmen.

Gbajabiamila, who spoke on why Jibrin was not allotted any committee, had noted: “Let me clarify that Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin was not excluded from the leadership composition. He was involved in the composition process and declined accepting any committee leadership.

“Hon. Jibrin had, repeatedly, made clear his intention to leave the House. My persuasions and that of some other leaders convinced him, reluctantly, to stay a bit longer.

“He wants a fresh challenge and his preference will be to return to the university and pursue his professorial ambition, face his private business or serve in the executive arm of the public service.”
