Edo to hold rally against human trafficking

The Edo State government in collaboration with RuthsChild Foundation, a Non- Governmental Organisation will on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 organise an interactive session and road walk to mark the 2019 World Day against Trafficking in Persons (TIP) in Benin City.

Speaker, Edo State house of Assembly, Frank Okiye and other lawmakers, as well as members of RuthsChild Foundation, civil society groups and community leaders will join the interactive session and rally.

A statement issued by Senior Special Assistant to Governor Godwin Obaseki on Anti-Human Trafficking Issues, Solomon Okoduwa disclosed that the event would raise public awareness on child trafficking in Edo.

The rally would also develop capacity of students and community leaders on identification and referral of suspected TIP cases in their schools, neighbourhood and communities and to share experiences on the challenges and opportunities of successful prosecution of TIP cases in the state.
