Wike seeks assembly’s approval to stop illegal markets, motor parks

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has sought approval of the state House of Assembly to stop illegal markets, motor parks and street trading in the state.

He made the request in a document titled: Rivers State Street Trading, Illegal Markets and Motor Parks Prohibition Bill 2019.

Governor Wike in the letter to Speaker of the House, Ikuinyi-Owaji Ibani, noted that the move was aimed at bringing sanity to the state.

The Executive Bill, which came 24 hours after the expiration of the July 21, deadline given by the state government to residents who operate their businesses on prohibited areas, however, passed its first reading during yesterday’s plenary.

Ibani made this known yesterday in Port Harcourt, adding that the bill was apt.
