The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has collected N5.992b revenue between January and June 2019, thereby surpassing its half-year target.
The figure represents 59.2 per cent of its target for the year and 20.3 per cent higher than 2018 mid-year takings of N4.773b.
A statement issued by the command’s Customs Public Relations Officer, Kayode Wey, indicated that the increase resulted from effective strategies put in place by the Area Controller, Comptroller Morenike Oladunni.
The statement added that Oladunni vigorously pursued non-compromise agenda for importers and agents’ full compliance with extant rules in ensuring maximum collection of government’s revenue.
A breakdown of the monthly collection shows that the command collected N869m in January, N722.5m in February and N1.149b in March 2019
The command collected N1.127b in April, N1.128b in May and N995m in June, amounting to N5.9b in six months.
