PDP resolves feud over National Assembly minority leadership positions

Intrigues over minority leadership positions in the National Assembly may have been resolved following the intervention of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP’s) governors and its national leadership.

Senate PDP Caucus had at a meeting with the National Working Committee (NWC) last week resolved to pick Enyinnaya Abaribe as Minority Leader, while Emmanuel Bwacha (Taraba South Senatorial District) was nominated as Deputy Minority leader.

Philip Aduda (Federal Capital Territory) was picked as Minority Whip, while Clifford Odia (PDP, Edo Central) emerged as Senate Deputy Minority Whip.

However, there were disagreements among some stakeholders, particularly with regard to Minority Whip position earlier reserved for Aduda.

It was learnt that crisis began to brew around supporters of former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, who was believed to have received the approval of party leaders for the position.

But the NWC and the governors prevailed on Suswam and his supporters to drop their agitations.
