Anglican Church tasks President Buhari on better security architecture

The Gombe Diocese of the Anglican Communion has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to overhaul the nation’s security architecture to effectively tackle the precarious situation at hand.

In a communiqué issued after the Second Session of its Seventh Synod with the theme: Total Commitment: An Imperative In Following Jesus, and signed by the diocesan bishop/Archbishop of Jos Province, Reverend Henry Ndukuba, the Church called on the Federal Government to be decisive and secure the citizenry.

It pointed out that the collapse of the country’s security network had manifest in the wanton destruction of lives, increased cases of kidnapping, banditry, cattle rustling and upsurge in Boko Haram activities.

The communiqué also called on communities and security agents to redouble efforts in the protection of critical national infrastructure.

Decrying the spate of suicides in the country, the church, however, applauded the president for giving vent to the new national minimum wage of N30, 000, urging its prompt implementation.

The clerics also congratulated Governor Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya and his team on their successful inauguration, charging them to reciprocate the people’s confidence by maintaining the existing peace for the development of the state.
