POLICE NABS SUSPECTED HOODLUMS IN LAGOS

Penultimate week, men of the Isheri-Oshun Police Division in Lagos through a rapid response approach rescued one Oguntuyi Oluwatosin of No. 3 Alonge Street off Lafunke, Ijegun from hoodlums attacking people at Ijegun road in Alimosho Local Government Area Lagos with matchet and cutlasses and dispossessed him of his belongings.

The suspects arrested are

Daniel Shomuyiwa                           17 years

Femi Ajuwon                                     16 years

Gabriel Adebowale                         19 years

Afeez Olayiwola                               20 years

Samuel Adeosun                              19 years

 

And others, with matchet, cutlasses, three phones and a knife from suspect. The Lagos State Public Relation Officer DSP. Bala Elkana who confirmed the arrest, said at about 5pm on Wednesday, the Isheri Police Station received a distress call that some hoodlums were operating in the area.

Elkana disclosed that a team of policemen from the station led by the divisional police office, SP Rafiu Akinlade mobilized to the scene and arrested the suspects. He noted that the victim whom the suspects injured with a matchet and dispossessed him of his belongings was rescued and taken to hospital and that he was responding to treatment.

They have been charged to court for conspiracy armed robbery and attempted murder. In another development, the Police in Lagos has apprehended a deadly three man robbery gang who injured one Saheed Oloyo with a matchet and rob him of his belonging and his motorcycle at Ipaja Community of the State.

The Police Public Relations Officer of Lagos, DSP Bala Elkana who confirmed the story, said at about 8.00am on Saturday last week, police in Ipaja Police Station received distress call that some armed robbers were operating at Victor Street in the community.

Bala disclosed that a team of policemen from Ipaja Division was mobilized to the scene and immediately three suspects were arrested, in connection with the case, one Adeleke Lateef 23 years, Lekan Bashiru 23 years and Chinedu Uzozie 21 years.

He noted that the victim whom the suspects injured with a matchet and robbed him of his motorcycle was rescued and taken to hospital. He further stated one locally made pistol, one matcher, one knife and other weapons were recovered from them.

The BAJAJ Motorcycle with registration number KRD-310-QH snatched by the suspects was recovered. Investigation is ongoing, while the suspects will be charged to court for conspiracy, armed robbery and attempted murder. In a related development, the police in Festac division, arrested two suspected hoodlums one Obinna Alozie 21 years of No. 19 Ogogoro Junction Iyana Iba and Obinna Machu 27 years of No. 10 Canal Road Ajegunle.

The Lagos State Command spokesman who confirmed the arrest on Sunday said, the Festac Police Station last Friday at about 9.40pm, received a call that some hoodlums were sighted at 24 Road Opposite G-close Festac Town. A team of policemen immediately mobilized to the scene leading to the arrest of hoodlums. One locally made pistol with life ammunition and other dangerous weapons were also recovered from them. Suspects he said will also be charged to court, while investigation continue.

The police in Okokomaiko division also arrested 18 years old Abdulasisi Owoyemi in connection with robbery at Luri Filling Station at Okokomaiko in the state.

Elkana stated that at about 2.21am on Friday, last week the police in Okokomaiko also received a distress call about some hoodlums operating at Luri filling station, Igbo Okoko Okokomaiko. A team was drafted immediately to the area. The suspect Abdulasisi Owoyemi of Magbon Town, Badagry was arrested in connection with the case. A locally made double barrel gun and five stolen phones were recovered from him.

He was charged to court while efforts are in place to track down other fleeing members of the gang. The State Command has assured the public of swift response anytime any distress call is made.
