The Nigerian Ports Authority has congratulated the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents on its 72nd anniversary, describing the premier association as a vital driver of maritime logistics and international trade in the country.

Meanwhile, the Authority has renewed its unflinching commitment to the ongoing modernisation project across all seaport locations with a view to further driving efficiency, competitiveness while engendering ease of doing business.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the NPA, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, in a letter addressed to the Association’s National Secretariat in Lagos to mark the 72nd anniversary, extended warm regards on behalf of the management and staff of the NPA to the membership and leadership of the association for their resilience, professionalism, and enduring relevance in driving international trade and commerce as well as national economic growth.

According to him, since its establishment in 1954, ANLCA has remained a cornerstone of Nigeria’s maritime logistics chain. He noted that reaching over seven decades of continuous service is a testament to the resilience, professionalism, and enduring relevance of the association in facilitating international trade and driving national economic growth.

Dr. Dantsoho stated that licensed customs agents have remained key trade facilitators and indispensable partners at the nation’s seaports and other trade corridors, adding that their role in maintaining cargo fluidity, improving port operational efficiency and sustaining supply chains has helped in no small way in promoting efficiency.

He added that the NPA deeply values the strategic relationship, constructive engagement, and mutual cooperation the two organisations have cultivated over the years.

The NPA boss reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to strengthening the operating environment for customs brokers and other freight logistics service providers.

He said the NPA would continue to focus on modernising port infrastructure, enhancing digital port operations and maintaining an enabling business environment to support the growth of businesses operating within the maritime sector.

He wished the association a memorable anniversary celebration and expressed hope for continued growth, impactful leadership and stronger collaboration between NPA and ANLCA, stressing that the Authority looks forward to many more years of impactful leadership, growth, and fruitful partnership in building a world-class maritime industry for the overall benefit of Nigeria’s economy.
