Regulators, Business Leaders Converge for $1trn Economy Target at FiBOP Conference
… NRS, NCC, Customs, SEC, NIA, NGX Group, Muda Yusuf confirm attendance
The Finance and Business Online Publishers Association (FiBOP) will bring together key regulators, business leaders and market operators at its 2026 annual conference and awards slated for October 17 and 18 at Orchids Hotel, Lekki, Lagos.
The conference, themed: “Unlocking Nigeria’s Economic Potential: Taxation, Industry, Insurance, Fintech, Trade and Investment as Catalysts for Nigeria’s $1 Trillion Vision,” will examine practical pathways to achieving Nigeria’s $1 trillion economy target by 2030.
Institutions that have confirmed participation include the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) and Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group).
The participation of NRS, NCS and SEC is expected to enrich discussions on taxation, trade facilitation, revenue mobilisation, capital formation and investment.
The NIA will present the insurance industry perspective on business protection, mobilisation of long-term funds and economic expansion, while the NCC will speak on digital connectivity and the digital economy.
The conference will be chaired by the Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE), Dr. Muda Yusuf, who will provide private sector and economic policy insights.
NGX Group Chairman, Dr. Umaru Kwairanga, will attend as a key participant and lead conversations on capital market development, investment mobilisation, market liquidity and support for business expansion.
Also confirmed are the Comptroller-General of Customs, Mr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the Director-General of SEC, Dr. Emomotimi Agama.
The event will also attract banks, insurance companies, fintechs, trade groups and investment institutions.
According to the Chairman , FiBOP conference organising committee, Barnabas Esiet, the two-day programme will feature plenary sessions, interactive discussions and networking among policymakers, regulators, investors, businesses and the media.
The FiBOP Awards, a major highlight of the event, will honour individuals and institutions for contributions to economic development, financial innovation and business growth.
President of FiBOP, Mr. Charles Onwuatogwu, commended the confirmed institutions for supporting sustained dialogue among the public sector, private sector and the media.
He called for broader stakeholder participation, noting that achieving the $1 trillion target requires cross-sector collaboration and concrete policies, investments and institutional partnerships beyond rhetoric on economic potential.
