The Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, and the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria, CRFFN, have agreed to deepen collaboration aimed at improving efficiency, transparency and digitalisation in the country’s freight and logistics sector.

The agreement was reached during a meeting on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at the NPA headquarters in Marina, Lagos. The NPA team was led by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, while the CRFFN delegation was led by the Registrar and CEO, Mr. Kingsley Igwe, FCILT.

A major item on the agenda was the proposed deployment of Logroom 4.1, an integrated digital freight logistics platform designed to streamline operations across the port and logistics value chain.

According to officials, the platform will introduce a standardised pricing mechanism for freight services and also provide an insurance indemnity cover for freight forwarders, truckers and other logistics service providers.

Stakeholders say the system is expected to address long-standing issues of arbitrary charges, reduce delays, and bring more predictability to logistics costs. It will also support the Federal Government’s push for digitalisation and automation in the maritime sector.

Both agencies said the meeting reflects the growing need for stronger inter-agency cooperation to enhance service delivery and make Nigeria’s ports more competitive.

Dantsoho and Igwe reaffirmed their commitment to work together to ensure the successful rollout of the platform and other joint initiatives that will benefit operators and port users.

The NPA and CRFFN said further technical engagements will follow to finalize the deployment timeline for Logroom 4.1 and ensure proper sensitisation of stakeholders ahead of implementation.
